Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with an active IL license and strong stroke care experience for a night-shift contract.
Responsibilities- Work on a 25-bed Med/Surg adult unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes stroke, comfort care, hospice, post-operative, heparin drips, wound care, altered mental status, CIWA, AKI, dialysis, and COPD exacerbations
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 5-6:1 on nights
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Uses Epic EMR
- Orientation includes one 8-hour onboarding day and up to two 12-hour floor shifts
- Expect a range of responsibilities including post-op care, wound care, and management of total care patients
- Must be able to work semi-private and private room environments
- Must be able to work independently and begin assignments with minimal supervision
- Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg experience required
- Current NIHSS certification required
- Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
- Experience caring for stroke patients required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
