Your new role
As a Finance and Payroll Officer, you will play a key role within the finance team, supporting the administration and processing of pensioner payrolls whilst also assisting with wider finance responsibilities.
Working closely with senior colleagues, you will help ensure payrolls are processed accurately and efficiently, maintain client accounts and cashbooks, support statutory reporting requirements and provide a high-quality service to clients and pension scheme members.
Your responsibilities will include:
Processing and administering monthly pensioner payrolls
Setting up and maintaining payroll records, including starters, leavers and deductions
Preparing payroll reports and statutory submissions
Supporting tax year-end processes and payroll reconciliations
Maintaining client bank accounts and cashbooks
Performing bank reconciliations and payment processing
Managing BACS payments and payroll-related transactions
Acting as a point of contact for pensioner payroll queries
Liaising with government bodies, auditors and third-party providers
Supporting the onboarding of new payroll clients
Assisting with client payroll transitions and exits
Producing ad hoc reports and payroll analysis
Supporting compliance, audit and data integrity activities
Assisting with finance administration, invoicing and purchase ledger duties
Contributing to process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience within payroll administration or payroll processing
Experience managing payroll from start to finish
Strong understanding of PAYE, National Insurance and payroll legislation
Excellent organisational and planning skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders
Proactive and professional approach to work
Strong Microsoft Excel and systems experience Desirable
CIPP qualification or currently studying towards CIPP
Experience with in a payroll bureau environment
Experience working with pension payrolls
Exposure to finance administration or wider accounting duties
Experience dealing with year-end payroll processes and reconciliations
