Are you looking for your next step in finance with a role that offers variety, career development and the flexibility of hybrid working?
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join a Cardiff-based business, offering a salary of £32,000 plus bonus. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in finance who is looking to develop their technical accounting skills and gain broader exposure across the finance function.
The Role
Working as part of the finance team, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function, helping to maintain accurate financial records and ensuring key accounting processes are completed efficiently and within deadlines.
Responsibilities will include:
Assisting with month-end processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
Preparing and completing balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
Supporting the production of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Maintaining accurate financial records and investigating discrepancies.
Assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities where required.
Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
Ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and in line with internal procedures.
Working closely with colleagues across the finance team to support reporting deadlines and wider business requirements.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience in an accounts or finance role, ideally with exposure to month-end processes.
A good understanding of core accounting principles and financial controls.
Experience preparing reconciliations and working with financial data.
Good Excel skills and confidence using finance systems.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workloads.
A proactive approach and willingness to develop your accounting knowledge.
AAT qualified, studying towards ACCA/CIMA, or qualified by experience would be beneficial.
