Position: ADMIN & ACCOUNTS OFFICER

Business Support Services within Frontline Services provide essential administrative and financial support to operational teams delivering vital services to local communities. The team plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial processing, good governance, and effective day‑to‑day service delivery across Waste Management and Street Cleansing operations.

Based at Lamby Way Depot, the team works closely with managers and operational colleagues to ensure Council procedures are followed and services are supported efficiently and professionally.

About the job

We are seeking an Admin & Accounts Officer to provide administrative and financial support within the Business Support Team.

The role involves processing purchase orders, invoices, income and financial information in line with Council procedures, alongside general administrative duties. You will work with a range of systems including SAP, Microsoft Office and Procure to Pay processes, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance at all times.

This is a varied role requiring good organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work to deadlines, while also supporting colleagues as part of a small, busy team.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in a financial administration or general administrative role
  • Is computer‑literate, with strong ICT skills and experience using Microsoft Office
  • Can work accurately, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and data protection
  • Works well as part of a team, showing flexibility and a willingness to support others
  • Takes pride in delivering reliable, high‑quality work and using their initiative

Experience of working in Local Government, familiarity with SAP, or knowledge of Waste Management or Street Cleansing services would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Additional information

The post is full time (37 hours per week) and the Council’s Flexible Working Hours (Flexi) Scheme applies. Although based at Lamby Way Depot, the role may involve working from different locations in line with service needs.
