Position: OPERATIONS SUPPORT OFFICER

Cardiff is growing faster than any other capital city in Europe and we have exciting opportunities to join our Street Scene Services, helping to deliver a variety of frontline waste operations from the back office, providing a high standard of service to the customers of Cardiff.

About the job

As an Operations Support Officer within the Domestic Team, you will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of Recycling and Waste Collection services throughout Cardiff. The role will require you to support the resourcing of the service, assisting with daily phone calls to crews and customers to gather and pass on key information about the rounds, scheduling training in line with mandatory requirements and processing correspondence between staff, customers, stakeholders, councillors and other departments to ensure smooth running of the operation.

You will be able to work well under pressure in a busy operational environment, where attention to detail, clear communication and multi-tasking is integral to the running of the service.

What We Are Looking For From You

Admin experience is essential for this role as well as knowledge of all aspects of Microsoft Office.

The successful candidate will have experience of working within a large operational team and direct public contact with excellent customer service skills.

You will be able to quickly adapt to technologies used by the service. You will need to understand and operate in line with Council Policies and Procedures. You must maintain the reputation of the Council by adopting a professional and courteous approach.

Additional information

Please note this post is full time, 37 hours per week, between the days of Monday to Friday. You are contracted to work Good Friday. Where Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s day fall on a contracted working day, subsequent catch up days, which may include weekend working, will be a mandatory requirement. Where any Bank Holiday fall on a working day this will also be a mandatory requirement.
