About The Role

As a Legal Team Support Manager, you will play a key role in supporting a fast-paced and collaborative team, ensuring the smooth delivery of legal and administrative services. Working closely with lawyers and support colleagues, you will help drive operational excellence, manage workflows, and contribute to an exceptional client experience within one of the firm's busiest and most dynamic practice areas.

Employment and Immigration Team:

The Employment & Immigration team at Capital Law is a highly regarded specialist practice, advising a diverse range of clients from growing businesses and charities to major national and international organisations. The team provides commercially focused advice across the full spectrum of employment law, including day-to-day HR matters, complex employee relations issues, employment tribunal litigation, corporate transactions, and strategic workforce projects.

The Immigration practice works alongside the Employment team, supporting clients with UK immigration and sponsorship matters, helping businesses attract and retain talent in an evolving regulatory landscape.

Main duties
  • Act as a key point of contact within the team, supporting onboarding, inductions and the ongoing development of trainees, junior lawyers and support colleagues.
  • Monitor team performance and utilisation, including time recording, chargeable hours and workload management, identifying and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Oversee billing, WIP and debt management processes, ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and financial targets are met.
  • Produce and analyse team management information, reporting on key operational and financial metrics and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive continuous improvements to administrative and operational processes, promoting efficiency and best practice across the team.
  • Support compliance and file management requirements through regular file reviews and process monitoring.
  • Attend management meetings and work closely with Partners, Heads of Team and business services colleagues to support team objectives and projects.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Legal Administrative team, contributing to colleague development and the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with ad hoc team, operational and people-related initiatives as required.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience in a legal support, operations, team management or professional services environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience monitoring performance, financial data, billing, WIP and debt management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to support and influence colleagues at all levels.
  • A proactive approach to identifying process improvements and driving operational efficiency.
  • Experience supporting, coaching and developing junior team members and administrative staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering an excellent internal and client service.
