The opportunity

Technical Surveying Manager, New Build

Full-time role

The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced residential surveyor to join e.surv’s New Build team.

The team provides specialist technical, valuation and risk support to major mortgage lender clients, surveyors and operational colleagues across the business. Its role is to support consistent decision making and help identify and manage the risks associated with new build residential developments.

As Technical Surveying Manager, you will be a key point of contact for new build valuation matters. You will review complex and higher risk developments, provide practical technical guidance, support lender requirements and contribute to the development of policies, controls and processes.

The role combines desktop technical work, development site visits, stakeholder engagement, analysis, guidance writing and presentations. It provides an opportunity to use your residential valuation experience in a broader technical role and influence how new build valuation risk is understood and managed.

Key responsibilities Technical reviews and guidance
  • Undertake desktop and site based reviews of complex or higher risk new build developments.
  • Provide specialist support on escalated new build valuation matters, helping surveyors and managers reach well reasoned outcomes.
  • Create clear and practical guidance on current and emerging issues in residential surveying and valuation.
  • Act as a consistent technical contact for lenders, surveyors, panel suppliers, Area Managers and Strategic Relationship Managers.
Lender and industry engagement
  • Work with major lender clients and Strategic Relationship Managers on new build policy, guidance and delivery requirements.
  • Provide technical input at client meetings, development reviews and relevant industry forums.
  • Deliver presentations to clients, surveyors and internal stakeholders on new build valuation matters.
  • Risk, analysis and process improvement
  • Support the ongoing development of new build risk management and exposure monitoring processes.
  • Analyse management information to identify trends, emerging risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Review workflows and recommend practical changes to improve quality, consistency and operational efficiency.
  • Support projects involving lender requirement mapping, process development, new technology and service improvement.
Team support and knowledge sharing
  • Share technical knowledge and provide constructive guidance to colleagues.
  • Help teams work through complex matters while maintaining clear ownership and accountability.
  • Contribute to a collaborative working environment focused on professional standards and continuous improvement.
Skills and experience

We welcome applications from experienced residential surveyors who would like to apply their knowledge in a specialist, influential and client facing role.

The successful candidate should have:

  • AssocRICS, MRICS or FRICS qualification preferred. We will also consider candidates working towards AssocRICS who have a strong technical background.
  • Sound knowledge of residential valuation and the relevant RICS Red Book requirements.
  • Awareness of current trends and emerging issues affecting new build residential property.
  • The ability to assess complex information, identify material risks and communicate a clear, evidence led position.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The confidence to engage with surveyors, operational managers, senior stakeholders and external clients.
  • Good analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A practical and collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • A commitment to technical quality, compliance and continuous improvement.

Previous new build experience would be beneficial, but it is not essential where a candidate has strong residential valuation knowledge and a genuine interest in developing within the specialism.

Why join the New Build team?

This role offers the opportunity to:

  • Develop specialist expertise in an important area of residential valuation and lending risk.
  • Work directly with major mortgage lender clients.
  • Influence technical policy, guidance and risk controls.
  • Review complex developments and emerging market issues.
  • Contribute to process improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing.
  • Represent e.surv at client meetings, presentations and industry discussions.
Travel

The role requires national travel for development site inspections, client meetings and industry events.
