Description

To support our continued growth, we are looking to employ a Consultant to join our consulting team. This role will work closely with client organisations and internal teams to deliver high-quality consultancy services across Housing, Customer, and Asset departments. The Consultant will take ownership of specific work streams, contribute to project delivery, and ensure services meet agreed standards for safety, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Lead social housing disrepair cases from notification to verified completion and closure, coordinating allocated teams with clear ownership, resources and escalation routes, within agreed line-management, budget, contract and settlement authority.
  • Strong knowledge of repairing and fitness obligations, damp and mould, Awaab's Law and HHSRS. Prioritise hazards, vulnerability and legal deadlines; ensure safeguarding, reasonable adjustments and accessible communication. Work with legal advisers to fulfil settlements and court orders, escalating risks promptly.
  • Interpret inspection reports, schedules of work, expert evidence and legal correspondence. Coordinate inspections, remedial works and completion checks, addressing underlying defects. Challenge contractor delays and incomplete or poor-quality works, agree recovery actions and elevate through client contract-management arrangements.
  • Deliver an agreed work-in-progress reduction plan using reliable baselines, bottleneck resolution and realistic closure forecasts reflecting demand, readiness and capacity. Monitor stage movements, ageing, resident outcomes and repair, damages and legal costs; highlight data limitations and decisions required.
  • Maintain audit-ready evidence with update owners and quality checks. Improve and test case-system workflows, stages, mandatory fields and alerts; use defect and complaint trends to drive prevention, supporting adoption and handover to client teams.
  • Demonstrable experience of reducing disrepair caseloads and overdue cases, improving works completion and achieving evidenced case closures through multidisciplinary team leadership and effective contractor management.
Desirable
  • A relevant qualification in building surveying, construction, housing or property management, or professional membership of RICS, CIH or CABE.
  • Relevant training or accreditation in HHSRS, damp and mould or health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver assigned work streams and support project delivery for client organisations.
  • Conduct data analysis, prepare reports, and contribute to solution development.
  • Assist in designing and implementing processes that improve service quality and efficiency.
  • Maintain compliance with Lumensol policies, procedures, and health & safety standards.
  • Build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to support project success.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and development activities.
  • Uphold Lumensol values and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and provide insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage assigned work streams and deliver to agreed timelines and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Organised, professional, and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow processes and maintain compliance with policies and procedures.
Benefits
  • Lumensol offers a generous benefits package which includes 25 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), competitive pension scheme, discretionary bonus scheme, Private Health Insurance, and Life Insurance.
  • To aid continued development and foster team working, we also engage our employees in training and strategy days, team updates, and core training.
