We are working closely alongside with local authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Family Support Officer on a 3‑month contract highly likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay:  per hour

Summary

The Family Support Worker will play a crucial role within the Interventions Hub and Support for Families Team in delivering high‑quality flexible and appropriate support services to families with children (aged 0‑18) identified as being in need. The primary purpose is to enhance parenting capacity and promote the child’s health and development preventing escalation and family breakdown. The successful candidate will manage an allocated caseload delivering direct work group sessions and family interventions in accordance with statutory duties and the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a range of flexible and appropriate support services including direct work group work and family work which may include same‑day interventions.
  • Deliver services in various settings including family homes, council buildings or community premises maintaining a sensitive and professional manner.
  • Manage an allocated caseload of families and complete work commissioned by case management teams.
  • Assess childrens and parents needs and strengths and contribute towards core assessments in partnership with other agencies.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate records and reports making effective use of ICT systems in line with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Transport children / families in a County or own vehicle and facilitate the delivery of documents to families.
Essentials
  • Education at GCSE or equivalent level.
  • Experience of working directly with vulnerable children and parents / carers in the community.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the 1989 Children Act and the Social Services and Well‑being Act (Wales) 2014.
  • Full UK driving licence

  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS.
