Summary

The Family Support Worker plays a vital role in delivering high-quality early intervention and prevention services. Working within the Interventions Hub, the goal is to provide tiered support that enables parents of children "in need" to build their parenting capacity, promoting the health and development of children aged 0–18. This proactive approach aims to improve the life chances of young people and, where possible, prevent the need for further statutory social work intervention.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver a range of flexible support services, including direct work, group work, and family-based interventions
  • Contribute to core assessments and participate in multi-agency approaches to identify childrens strengths, needs, and potential risks
  • Work inclusively with case management teams and external agencies to plan, record, and review individual service plans for children
  • Maintain accurate ICT records and reports; attend formal meetings (such as Child In Need Reviews and Court Proceedings) to present evidence.
  • Assist with supervised contact between children and parents, transport families in a County or personal vehicle, and participate in duty rotas
  • Adhere strictly to the Councils Corporate Safeguarding Policy and report any concerns regarding the safety or wellbeing of children or adults at risk.
Qualifications
  • Education at GCSE level or equivalent
  • Possession of a First Aid Training Certificate is considered an advantage.
  • Diploma in Health and Social Care or a CACHE Level 3 qualification (desirable).
Essentials
  • Understanding of the 1989 Children Act and the Social Services and Well-being Act (Wales) 2014.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of child development and parenting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with service users, managers, and other professional agencies.
  • Ability to manage a workload independently and work unsupervised while adhering to quality standards.
  • A full UK driving license.

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
