We are currently recruiting for a Groundworker Labourer to join our planned works team covering Cardiff and the surrounding areas.
Role OverviewThe successful candidate will support groundworks operations on a variety of planned maintenance and construction projects. This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, assisting skilled ground workers, and carrying out excavation, reinstatement, drainage, and general site preparation works. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, reliable, safety‑conscious, and experienced in construction site environments.
Responsibilities- Assist ground workers with excavation, trenching, drainage, kerbing, concreting, and reinstatement works.
- Prepare and maintain safe, clean, and organised work areas.
- Load, unload, move, and distribute materials, tools, and equipment around site.
- Support the installation and repair of underground services, drainage systems, and associated infrastructure.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Carry out manual digging, back filling, compacting, and site clearance activities.
- Assist with setting up traffic management, barriers, and site safety measures where required.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and work collaboratively with site teams to complete projects efficiently.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and site procedures.
- Report any hazards, defects, equipment faults, or safety concerns immediately.
- Undertake other groundworks and labouring duties as required.
- Previous experience working as a Groundworker Labourer, Construction Labourer, or within a civil engineering environment.
- Experience assisting with drainage, excavation, reinstatement, or utility works is desirable.
- Good understanding of construction site health and safety practices.
- Physical fitness and the ability to undertake demanding manual work.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
