Fawkes & Reece are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established client for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a long-term contract based in Cardiff Bay.
Our client is a leading provider of tested and bespoke building envelope solutions across the UK, offering specialist consultancy, design, chartered engineering, and flexible procurement and installation services. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support projects across Cardiff and the surrounding areas.
The RoleAs a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from inception through to completion, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while maintaining quality and programme requirements.
Location:
Cardiff Bay (Projects throughout the wider Cardiff area)
Rate: £300 - £320 per day
Duration: 12 - 18 months

Hours:
Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 17:30
- Managing project costs and budgets.
- Preparing and evaluating subcontractor packages and procurement.
- Producing valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Monitoring project expenditure and forecasting costs.
- Reviewing contracts and ensuring contractual compliance.
- Preparing cost reports and presenting commercial updates.
- Liaising with clients, site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Identifying commercial risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Supporting the successful commercial delivery of multiple projects.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Experience working on new building and refurbishment envelope, roofing, cladding, façade, or external envelope projects (desirable).
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, commercial processes, and cost management.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and commercial software.
- Full UK driving licence.
Candidates should hold one or more of the following:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline.
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or working towards chartered status (desirable).
- Valid CSCS card (preferred).
- Monday to Friday working hours (07:30 - 17:30).
