Job Summary:The HSE Site Supervisor is responsible for leading all on-site health, safety and environmental activities across utility-scale solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction projects throughout the UK. Working closely with the HSE Country Manager, Project Managers and site teams, the role ensures full compliance with UK health, safety and environmental legislation, company standards and client requirements while promoting a proactive safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead all on-site health, safety and environmental activities across utility-scale Solar PV and BESS construction projects.
- Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation, CDM 2015, company procedures and client requirements.
- Develop, implement and maintain site-specific HSE documentation, including risk assessments, environmental assessments, emergency plans and H&S files.
- Review and approve subcontractor RAMS, monitor compliance and promote safe systems of work across site.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety briefings, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Lead incident and accident investigations, identifying root causes and driving preventative measures.
- Oversee site emergency preparedness, welfare facilities, fire safety, traffic management and environmental controls.
- Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, clients, local authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure safe project delivery.
- Produce accurate HSE reports, maintain site records and provide regular updates to the HSE Country Manager.
- Foster a proactive safety culture by coaching, advising and supporting site teams to achieve zero harm objectives.
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent) is essential.
- Minimum 2-3 years' Health & Safety experience within construction projects.
- Experience on utility-scale renewable energy, infrastructure or other heavy civil engineering projects is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, including CDM 2015.
- Experience preparing and reviewing RAMS, risk assessments, HSE documentation and emergency procedures.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractor HSE performance and maintain compliance on live construction sites.
- Excellent investigation, reporting and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident producing HSE reports and documentation.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the UK.
- First Aid at Work qualification is desirable, with additional NEBOSH Environmental, Fire or ISO 14001/45001 qualifications considered advantageous.
