Senior Quantity Surveyor - Renewable Energy

About the Role
  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a large-scale renewable energy project.
  • The role will sit within the commercial function and will have a strong focus on commercial entitlement, claims, cost analysis and project financial control. You will be responsible for helping the project team understand the financial consequences of changes, delays and other commercial events, ensuring that supporting evidence is captured and costs are properly evaluated.
  • This position would suit someone who enjoys working with complex project data and has a strong background in claims, variations, EOTs and quantum.
  • You will work alongside commercial and project delivery colleagues, providing clear financial information and analysis to support both day-to-day decision-making and more formal commercial processes.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for an established Quantity Surveyor who is confident working in a commercially demanding project environment and can demonstrate strong experience in cost analysis and claims.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Take ownership of the commercial assessment of project events, changes and potential entitlements.
  • Review project information and cost data to establish the financial effect of relevant events.
  • Assist with the preparation of claims, including development of supporting calculations and evidence.
  • Contribute to EOT submissions and associated commercial assessments.
  • Review expenditure and establish the relationship between project activities and resulting costs.
  • Produce detailed quantum calculations and supporting cost narratives.
  • Monitor actual expenditure against budgets, forecasts and commercial allowances.
  • Identify emerging financial exposure and highlight areas requiring further investigation.
  • Maintain accurate records of commercial events, costs and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare regular commercial information for project management and senior stakeholders.
  • Work with project delivery, procurement, finance and commercial colleagues to obtain the information required for effective cost assessment.
  • Assist with negotiations and commercial discussions with contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
  • Support the resolution of commercial issues as they arise throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to risk reviews, forecasting and wider commercial reporting.
You’ll ideally bring:
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction or a related subject.
  • Solid experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial position.
  • A proven track record of working with project costs, variations, claims and commercial reporting.
  • Practical experience assessing EOTs, delay-related costs or other forms of contractual entitlement.
  • Strong capability in developing and reviewing quantum.
  • The ability to interrogate large volumes of project and financial information.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • A methodical approach to maintaining commercial records and supporting evidence.
  • Confidence communicating commercial issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • The ability to operate autonomously while working effectively as part of a wider project team.
  • Experience That Would Be Advantageous
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly beneficial:
  • Offshore wind or other renewable energy projects
  • Major infrastructure or construction programmes
  • Complex subcontractor or supply-chain environments
  • EPC / EPCI or similar contracting arrangements
  • Contractual claims and dispute avoidance
  • Delay and disruption assessments
  • FIDIC or other recognised forms of contract
  • RICS membership or equivalent professional accreditation
