Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor Permanent or Freelance Opportunities

An established groundworks and civil engineering contractor is looking for a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team.

The company delivers large and complex projects across the South West, South Wales and the M5 corridor. Its work includes bulk earthworks, groundworks, drainage, reinforced concrete structures, infrastructure, utilities, highways and external works.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial performance of projects while working closely with clients, operational teams, suppliers and subcontractors.

• Completing accurate measurements and take-offs from drawings and project information
• Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment
• Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and commercial reporting
• Identifying, pricing and agreeing variations
• Procuring and commercially managing subcontractors and suppliers
• Preparing cost plans, tender information and pricing documentation
• Monitoring project performance and identifying risks and opportunities
• Maintaining accurate commercial records
• Preparing and negotiating final accounts
• Building effective relationships with clients and the wider project team

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
• A strong background in groundworks or civil engineering
• Proven ability to complete detailed take-offs and measurements from drawings
• Sound knowledge of valuations, variations, procurement and cost control
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage priorities and make confident commercial decisions
• A collaborative and professional approach
• Good communication and relationship-building skills

A competitive salary or freelance rate will be offered, dependent on experience.
