PROPOSED SALARY RANGE:  £40,200 - £50,200 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF

THE ROLE   Based in BBC Cardiff Central Square, you will bring your passion and experience of audio production, as well as knowledge of live music production, to be part of a team making a wide range of classical music and arts output for BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 3, BBC World Service and BBC Sounds.
Primarily working on Radio 3 strands such as Composer of the Week as well as ad hoc arts and music features, you will also be leading the planning and delivery of all our Radio 3 concerts.

This is a closely collaborative and creative team, working on an exciting range of programmes. You'll bring your knowledge of classical music and the wider arts scene to bear on the development, pitching, research, setting up, scripting, recording, editing and delivery of a range of programmes and concerts, from Composer of the Week to live BBC Proms and outside broadcasts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
To originate, develop and produce content for our classical music strands and arts features on a variety of platforms, working closely with other members of the Audio Drama, Arts and Classical Music team
To research and provide script outlines for presenters, primarily for Composer of the Week
To arrange and oversee studio and on-location recordings
To take the lead on our concert output and oversee the budget for those, as well as liaise with the commissioning editor at Radio 3
To produce concert recordings on location for strands such as Classical Live, In Concert and the BBC Proms.
To work closely with both regular and freelance presenters
To oversee the edit, post-production and delivery of our programmes

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Demonstrable knowledge of classical music and experience of working on broadcast music programmes, including concerts.

Experience of writing clear and concise material for briefs, scripts or digital platforms.

Experience of working closely with presenters in a broadcast environment.
Ability to develop creative ideas, which engage diverse audiences in a demanding creative environment.
Effective planning and organising skills and ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
DESIRABLE:
A knowledge of BBC editorial guidelines and other compliance policies, or the desire to glean this knowledge quickly.
An understanding of the importance of the BBC's values in accuracy and impartiality.
Familiarity with research techniques and sources for the verification of the accuracy of material.
Ability to use IT proficiently, including a range of software packages.

Experience of influencing, negotiating and communicating effectively.
