A leading construction business in South Wales is currently seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their growing technical team based in Cardiff. Mix of projects from new build, refurbs, and educational projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established developer delivering high-quality schemes across the region, with a strong pipeline of future projects.
The RoleAs Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process across multiple residential developments, from pre-planning through to completion and handover.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing the full design lifecycle.
- Coordinating external consultants including architects, engineers, and planning consultants.
- Ensuring designs comply with planning conditions, Building Regulations, NHBC and other statutory requirements.
- Reviewing and managing technical drawings, specifications and design information.
- Providing technical input to land acquisition and planning teams.
- Working closely with commercial and construction teams to ensure buildability and cost efficiency.
- Identifying and managing design risks and resolving technical issues.
- Attending design and project meetings with key stakeholders and local authorities.
- Ensuring design information is delivered in line with project programmes.
Our client is looking for a driven and technically strong professional with a solid background in residential construction.
Essential experience:- Proven experience as a Design Manager
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, planning processes and NHBC standards.
- Experience managing consultants and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Construction, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Experience working for a developer or main contractor.
- Knowledge of sustainability standards and modern methods of construction.
