We are looking for someone who will share our commitment to providing excellent healthcare andwill liaise with the partners where appropriate to ensure continuity ofcare.
The successful candidate wouldperform two sessions on Mondays, plus another session ideally on a Friday. Medical indemnity expenses for the sessionsworked at the Practice will be reimbursed.
The candidate must be fully registered with the GMC, have suitable medical indemnity insurance, and be listed on the Cardiff and Vale UHB providers list for generalmedical services. It is preferable the candidate be qualified MRCGP.
Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will work as part of a team, dealing with a range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered patients.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- The post-holder will undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, home visits, reviewing results and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Developing care plans in consultation with patients and in line with disease management protocols, .
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary.
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
- The practice is a training practice, and educates GP trainees and medical students. The doctor would be expected to participate in educational activities including: conducting hot reviews with GP trainees and review of medical student consultations.
Fairwater Health Centre is a supportive friendly 7 partner training practice, situated inWest Cardiff, covering a primarily suburban area, with a small population inmore rural locations.
We are a teamof dedicated, caring and enthusiastic clinicians, who work closely together toprovide excellent health care to our patient.
We are committed to maintaining an environment that supports each other,as well as the GP trainees, medical students and GP retainer attached to the practice.
We always meetfor coffee after morning surgery and during afternoon surgery, and have aweekly practice meeting. The practice has a young partner age profile.

Term of employment:
Initially 12 month contract (subject to references, employment checks and satisfactory completion of a probationary period)
The successful candidate will be employed by the surgery and not by Cardiff and Vale Health Board
Salary: £11,2320 per session per annum
