Clinical Teaching Fellow - Trauma & Orthopaedics

Applications are invited for a Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) post in Trauma & Orthopaedics for a fixed term 12 month period with a start date of 5th August 2026.
The post is full time, 10 sessions per week, comprising 50% teaching and 50% clinical time.
Any out of hours work will be paid at a supplement as agreed by the Directorate, however this post does not come with an automatic Banding.

The post holder will work at both the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) and University Hospital Llandough (UHL).
This post offers an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking doctor with a strong interest in medical education.
Main duties of the jobTeaching is a major component of the role and the successful postholder will work closely with the Department of Medical Education, Specialty Lead and undergraduate tutors to deliver evidence based undergraduate education to Cardiff University School of Medicine medical students following the C21 curriculum. The postholder will also benefit from having an honorary contract with Cardiff University with the title Honorary Lecturer.
Clinical time will be spent working in Trauma & Orthopaedics where the successful candidate will be exposed to all aspects of trauma and paediatric trauma & orthopaedic surgery. The timetable for this period will be agreed to enable the appointee to work at a level that is suitable for their stage of training.

Person Specification Qualifications- MBBS or equivalent
- Completion of Foundation Training
- Full current GMC Registration with licence to practice
- Academic Evidence
- Teaching Experience
- Up to date with current medical practices
- Ability to take appropriate clinical decisions when necessary
- UK Clinical experience in specialty
- experience of simulation based teaching
- Special interest in medical education
- Demonstrable communication and presentation skills
- Understanding of C21 curriculum
