This post is aimed at a post-CCT/senior registrar level with solid background in gastroenterology, looking to get specialist experience in IBD and independent endoscopist OGD or colonoscopy.

There is no on call commitment for this role.

Main duties of the job

During your role, you'll have the opportunity to participate in regular complex IBD inpatient and outpatient work. This will include:

  • Joint IBD / Surgical clinics
  • IBD / PSC clinics
  • IBD pregnancy outpatient reviews
  • Paediatric to adult IBD transition clinics
  • Weekly IBD joint IBD, Radiology, Histology, Colorectal surgery MDT (Comprehensive MDT)
  • Weekly IBD advanced therapy MDT
  • Access to dedicated training list for chromoendoscopy and IBD/PSC surveillance and detection of dysplastic lesions, depending on the candidate's level of endoscopic experience
  • IBD hot clinics for acute flares on both sites
  • The successful candidate would also be expected to provide urgent IP consultations to patients presenting with acute severe colitis and liaise with our IBD surgeons and wider MDT to ensure appropriate inpatient management.
  • Involvement in multicenter IBD trials. Dr Durai is research lead for many significant IBD research projects, giving rise to the opportunity to participate in many studies and publications.
  • Participate in mandated departmental and service audits, alongside service improvement projects.

Person Specification Essential Experience
  • Post-CCT or towards end of specialist training in gastroenterology
  • Evidence of participation in Research and Clinical Governance
  • Independent endoscopist OGD or colonoscopy (colonoscopy sign off anticipated by start of post)
Desirable Experience
  • JAG accreditation for colonoscopy
  • independent in colonoscopy
Essential Qualifications
  • MBBS or recognised equivalent
  • Current GMC registration with a Full Licence to Practise
Desirable Qualifications
  • MRCP completed

  • Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working
  • Research and interests relevant to specialty
