Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine Job Cardiff area,Wales UK,Doctor/Physician

The post will comprise up to 10.3 sessions, including 8 sessions/wk at City Hospice and 2 sessions/wk with the specialist palliative care hospital support team at Velindre University NHS Trust and 0.3 sessions/wk for out of hours commitments. The post holder will be employed through VUNHST which employs all consultants in palliative medicine in the Cardiff and Vale region via a hub and spokes model.

To act as a Specialist Palliative Medicine Consultant to all clinical services at City Hospice and contribute to sessions in Velindre Cancer Centre under auspices of Velindre University NHS Trust
To provide high quality, timely, patient-centred and consultant led care for in-patients, outpatients, day-case and community-based patients and those accessing oncology assessment unit, radiotherapy and other services
To work to ensure an integrated model of palliative care service delivery to all patients within the catchment areas Velindre services by collaborating closely with other specialist and generalist palliative care providers.
To assess and manage patients attending Velindre who are acutely unwell and symptomatic, including acute oncology service input
To contribute to teaching, audit, quality improvement and research activities
To take on appropriate management and clinical governance responsibilities.
To participate in an on-call rota providing 24/7 out of hours support to all hospitals, specialist palliative care in-patient units and community-based patients within the Cardiff and Vale University Heath Board Areas At Velindre University NHS Trust, we are proud to deliver specialist services across Wales through the Velindre Cancer Centre and Welsh Blood Service, supported by our corporate teams and partnerships with NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership and Health Technology Wales.
