About the RoleAs a key member of our specialist behavioural team, you will support children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) who require a highly individualised, alternative approach to education. You will work closely with behaviour practitioners and teaching staff to create a calm, structured, and supportive environment where pupils feel safe, understood, and able to succeed. Support will include working with small groups of 4‑6 learners, as well as providing 1:1 guidance for pupils with more complex or high‑level behavioural needs.
We are particularly looking for candidates with strong practical skills
, such as basic plumbing, electronics, carpentry, DIY, or workshop experience. Hands‑on, vocational activities play a key role in helping learners build confidence, develop resilience, and engage in purposeful, skill‑based learning.
- Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions using trauma‑informed, relational, and restorative approaches.
- Assisting learners to rebuild positive routines and develop communication, problem‑solving, and resilience skills.
- Implementing behaviour support plans and contributing to de‑escalation in challenging situations.

- Encouraging personal growth through activities that develop confidence, self‑esteem, teamwork, and independence.
Every day within an alternative provision setting is different. Your support will be vital in helping learners rebuild trust, form positive relationships, and work toward successful reintegration or progression into vocational and academic pathways.
