GRANT MANAGER

The Cardiff Education Directorate's role is to provide strategic, professional, and operational leadership that enables the Council to meet its statutory responsibilities across the full education system—from early years through post‑16 and youth services. The Directorate oversees a large and diverse education landscape, including:

• Over 120 schools across Cardiff, comprising nursery, primary (including Welsh‑medium and dual‑language), secondary, special schools, and a Pupil Referral Unit.
• Key service areas include Achievement, Inclusion, ALN (Additional Learning Needs) services, Educational Psychology, and Youth Services. These teams work with schools, partners
• A core part of its remit is to improve learning, wellbeing, and equity—particularly for vulnerable groups such as looked‑after children, EOTAS learners, and learners with ALN.

The Grant Manager will lead the coordination, allocation and monitoring of the Local Authority Education Grants (LAEG), ensuring funding is used effectively to deliver national education priorities. The role oversees multiple grant funded projects, working closely with internal teams, schools and external partners to ensure timely delivery, compliance and value for money. Key priorities include project oversight, budget management, stakeholder engagement and implementing effective tracking systems.

The role requires strong organisational, analytical and communication skills, alongside the ability to lead, problem solve and support multi‑agency collaboration. you will work closely with Education service managers, financial support officers and schools.
