We are looking to recruit Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in the centre of Cardiff. The ideal candidate must be able to work a minimum of one day per week, but the position can work around you whether you are looking for flexible days, or a full time / part time role. The ideal candidate will support the children and teacher with general classroom assistance, and will have the opportunity to work in a range of age groups from Foundation Phase to Key Stage 2, as well as work in several Primary Schools in the Cardiff area.

Adaptability is essential to work well with different age groups, and the candidate must be reliable. There may also be opportunities to work with children on a one‑to‑one basis who require extra support throughout the day, so the ideal Teaching Assistant must be confident supporting children with a range of needs.

Experience working with children or as a Teaching Assistant is desirable but not always required.

Ideal candidate
  • Enthusiastic and hardworking individual, eager to help in all areas and use initiative.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with children, teachers and parents in the school.
  • Good communication skills, able to manage small groups of children with intervention work.
  • Confident providing one‑to‑one support to children with additional learning needs.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team or with other staff members and bring new ideas.
Requirement criteria
  • Enhanced DBS (Child Only) checks must be completed before the role will commence.
  • EWC registration – mandatory requirement in Wales.
  • Experience personally or in a working environment with children (desirable).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, which may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

We offer all our registered candidates free child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake, or have undertaken, a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance is provided.
