Lecturer in Sedimentology and Earth Systems – School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Cardiff University

Join a dynamic and multidisciplinary centre devoted to education and research in geoscience and geography. The School invites a fixed‑term Lecturer in Sedimentology and Earth Systems to teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, and contribute to the new degree programme in Cardiff University Kazakhstan, Astana.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Sedimentology and Earth Systems.
  • Supervise undergraduate and master’s thesis students.
  • Deliver residential geology and geography field courses, local day field trips, seminars, team work and project work supervision.
  • Contribute to research and scholarship, including work on sedimentology, basin analysis and sediment-hosted mineral deposits.
  • Work with the School to promote sustainability and inclusive practice.
Qualifications

Applicants should hold an appropriate academic qualification and relevant teaching and research experience in sedimentology and Earth systems. Experience of teaching within a higher education context and supervision of student research is desirable.

Employment Details
  • Full‑time (35 hours per week).
  • Fixed‑term contract for 12 months.
  • Salary within band £41,064 – £46,049 (Grade 6).
  • Position available immediately.
