About The Role
Birchwood School is expanding and seeking a Secondary Teacher with a specialist subject to teach up to GCSE level. In this role you will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons, tailor learning to individual pupil needs, and work closely with support staff and families to create an inclusive classroom.
Salary£21,501 – £38,628 per annum.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high‑quality lessons in your specialist subject up to GCSE level.
- Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities.
- Create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Use positive behaviour support strategies in line with school policies.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and parents/carers.
- Support pupils’ wellbeing, including personal care where required.
- Promote safeguarding, equality and inclusion at all times.
- GCSEs (A*–C or equivalent), including English and Maths.
- Strong subject knowledge in your specialist area.
- Child‑centred approach and passion for inclusive education.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to support complex needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching at secondary level, ideally up to GCSE.
- Experience working with pupils with Autism, SEMH or additional learning needs.
- Confidence working within a multidisciplinary team.
- A creative, flexible and reflective approach to teaching and learning.

This role involves regulated activity with children and requires an Enhanced DBS Check, including a Barred List Check. Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is essential.
