Elementa Support Services is working in partnership with a Welsh-medium secondary school in Cardiff to recruit a dedicated Attendance Officer to support the promotion of excellent attendance and pupil wellbeing across its primary cluster schools.

This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by working closely with pupils, families, school staff, and external agencies to remove barriers to attendance and ensure every child can access the educational opportunities they deserve.

About the Role

As an Attendance Officer, you will:

  • Monitor, analyse, and report on pupil attendance data across the school cluster
  • Identify attendance concerns and support early intervention strategies
  • Follow up on unexplained absences and maintain accurate attendance records

    Build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and school staff
  • Conduct home visits where appropriate to support engagement and attendance
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies and support services
  • Attend and contribute to attendance, safeguarding, and wellbeing meetings
  • Provide guidance and support to families regarding attendance expectations
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive educational outcomes at all times
What We’re Looking For

To be considered, candidates must have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Good IT skills and experience using data management systems
  • The ability to build positive and professional relationships with children, young people, and families
  • Welsh language skills sufficient to communicate effectively with pupils, families, and colleagues within a Welsh-medium school environment
  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport
  • A commitment to supporting pupil wellbeing and educational achievement
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply (Elementa can assist)
Desirable
  • Experience working within a school, education, or pastoral support environment
  • Experience monitoring attendance or working with attendance improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and multi-agency working
  • Experience conducting home visits or family support work

  • Successful completion of a 12-week / 60 paid day employment trial period
