Are you passionate about the Welsh language and want to help achieve the goal of a million speakers by 2050? We’re looking for a Welsh for Adults and Language Skills Tutor to deliver Welsh for Adults programmes to staff and students, along with preparing students to undertake the Coleg Cymraeg’s Welsh Language Skills Certificate. Based in Cardiff, the tutor will work across both Llandaf and Cyncoed campuses to deliver courses from Entry to Proficiency level and will play a vital role in equipping students with Welsh language skills for the workplace.
You will work as part of the University’s Welsh Language Unit, which leads on the development and growth of Welsh‑medium provision and services for students, staff and the public across the University.
- Collaborating with other tutors to plan and deliver learn Welsh programmes to specific cohorts of students.
- Developing staff and students’ Welsh language skills for use in the workplace and beyond.
- Contributing to the Welsh Language Unit’s programme of ‘Informal Welsh’ learning events and participating in the team’s ongoing professional development activities.
- Coordinating the Welsh Language Skills Certificate arrangements at the University: promoting the certificate, registering candidates, organising preparation sessions, oral assessments, written exams, etc.
- Fluency in Welsh and English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with staff and students.
- Experience of teaching Welsh for adults programmes and supporting individuals in their Welsh language learning journey.
- A comprehensive knowledge of Welsh grammar.
- Good IT skills, particularly in relation to the creation and delivery of teaching resources.
- The ability to deliver Welsh for Adults programmes through e‑learning methods.
