About

the job

This is an exciting opportunity to proactively drive and support a range of strategic projects across school improvement, inclusion and school organisation and planning. You will work collaboratively across the directorate and with external partners to deliver projects that enhance educational provision and support our long‑term strategic objectives.

You will oversee the planning, monitoring and delivery of key education projects, ensuring clear objectives, strong governance, effective resource allocation and timely progress against milestones. You will identify and manage risks, adapt plans as needed, and ensure projects achieve meaningful, sustainable outcomes.

Agile working is a key feature of this role, with a base at County Hall, Cardiff Bay, and regular engagement with Council Teams and schools across the city.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced project leader with a strong track record in managing a range of strategic projects. A strong focus on promoting best practice is essential, including advancing inclusive education, supporting effective school planning and driving continuous improvement. Through collaboration, innovation and a commitment to high standards, the post holder will play a vital role in delivering positive, lasting benefits for pupils, staff and the wider community.

Welsh language skills or a commitment to learn are also welcomed, but not essential.
