We currently have a vacancy for a Learning Assistant to join our team at Deeside to support our learners with Additional Learning Needs. This role is permanent, part time (31.25 hours per week, over 36 weeks) and supports learners in an educational setting. The salary is £25,978 – £26,335 full‑time, pro‑rata to the working pattern.

Supporting learners with additional learning needs in classroom and group settings, adapting communication style to meet diverse needs, managing learning processes, building positive relationships with learners and staff, applying effective strategies for challenging behaviours, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for young people and adults.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2 or above.
• Demonstrated empathy and understanding of a range of learning difficulties/disabilities, with resilience, flexibility, patience and a sense of humour.
• Previous experience of supporting learners with additional learning needs in the classroom or significant relevant personal experience.
• Passion for empowering and enabling young people.
• Ability to build good working relationships with learners and staff, manage groups of learners and have a positive approach to challenging behaviours.

Welsh language skills are desirable for this specific post. We seek candidates who can help us grow our bilingual provision and service. Coleg Cambria aims to actively promote and embed the Welsh language and culture and provides training plans and incentive payments for bilingual delivery.

Roles are covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order and require an Enhanced DBS with Barred List check, and applicants must disclose all cautions and convictions, including spent ones. It is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children. Disclosure will not automatically prevent employment; a risk assessment will be carried out. Depending on the position, successful candidates may also need to register with the Education Workforce Council.
