About the Role

At ACT, our Behaviour Framework shapes everything we do. We are looking for an Academic Intervention Worker who demonstrates genuine Respect for every learner, communicates with Openness & Honesty, and builds positive relationships through integrity and trust. You will bring Innovation & Creativity to developing effective interventions, motivate and empower learners to overcome barriers, and communicate with Clarity when supporting learners, colleagues and families.

The Schools Academic Intervention Worker will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of targeted academic interventions within ACT Schools, our registered independent school for young people aged 11–16 who require additional support to overcome barriers to learning.

Working collaboratively with teaching staff, Youth Learning Mentors (YLMs), the Senior Leadership Team and the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) team, you will develop and deliver effective literacy, numeracy and wider learning interventions that support learner progress, confidence and engagement.

You will take a learner-centred and empowering approach, providing personalised support through individual and group interventions, mentoring, monitoring learner progress and adapting strategies to meet individual needs. You will contribute to a positive learning environment where learners feel safe, valued and supported to make progress.

This is a site-based role within ACT Schools, reporting to the Deputy Head of Safeguarding, Pastoral and Attendance. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate Innovation & Creativity in their approach, work collaboratively with colleagues, think proactively to overcome challenges, and consistently model ACT’s Behaviour Framework in all aspects of their work.

What you’ll do:

Deliver targeted literacy, numeracy and learning interventions for individual learners and groups.

Support learners with behavioural, learning and additional learning needs through personalised interventions.

Monitor learner progress and adapt support to meet individual needs.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, Youth Learning Mentors and the ALN team to improve learner outcomes.

Create a safe, inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence, engagement and positive behaviour.

Mentor learners, supporting their personal development, wellbeing and progression.

Maintain accurate learner records using systems such as Edukey and Arbor.

Report safeguarding concerns and contribute to the wider life of ACT Schools.
