Cardiff and Vale College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Progress Coach to join our Health and Social Care team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting learners throughout their College journey, helping them to overcome barriers, achieve their goals and progress successfully into further study, higher education or employment. Working closely with curriculum staff, Student Services, parents and external agencies, you will provide high-quality pastoral support that promotes attendance, engagement, wellbeing and achievement.

What You’ll Do

As a Progress Coach, you will support learners to reach their full potential by providing individual guidance, coaching and targeted interventions. You will monitor attendance, punctuality, progress and learner engagement, taking proactive steps to address concerns and celebrate successes.

You will conduct regular one-to-one reviews, set meaningful targets, maintain learner records and work with curriculum teams to ensure learners remain on track to achieve their ambitions. The role also involves delivering engaging personal development sessions that build confidence, resilience, employability skills and readiness for the next stage of education or employment.

In addition, you will support learner voice activities, progression planning, UCAS applications and the wider learner experience, ensuring students can access the support and opportunities they need to succeed.

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people and committed to helping learners achieve their goals.

You will be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners, colleagues, parents and external partners. You will be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and confident in supporting learners facing a range of personal and educational challenges.

You will have experience of motivating and supporting individuals, delivering effective interventions and using progress information to identify and address underperformance. A commitment to learner wellbeing, inclusion and positive outcomes is essential.
