At Coleg Cambria, we place people at the heart of everything we do. We are seeking an empathetic, resilient, and highly focused Mental Health and Welfare Officer to join our dedicated team. If you are passionate about protecting young people and vulnerable adults, empowering them with vital coping skills, and ensuring a safe environment where they can thrive, we would love to hear from you.

Your primary focus will be coordinating timely mental health interventions to ensure our learners can fully engage, develop, and progress both academically and personally.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Managing Concerns : Receiving, assessing, and prioritising mental health safeguarding concerns.

Crisis Support & Safety Planning : Developing and reviewing safety plans and risk assessments for learners in crisis.

Multi-Agency Collaboration : Working closely with external partners such as social services, health services, and the police, and participating in multi-agency care/strategy meetings.

Advice & Guidance : Providing clear, expert advice on safeguarding policies to staff at all levels across the college.

Compliance & Legislation : Staying current with safeguarding regulations and legislation, sharing updates with staff and learners to ensure college-wide awareness.

Coaching & Mentoring : Using resilience-building strategies to help learners build vital coping skills.

Accurate Record-Keeping : Maintaining precise, confidential electronic records to ensure clear audit trails

• Good level of literacy and numeracy skills Level 2 English and Maths qualifications (or equivalent) at Grade 4 (C) or above

• Level 4 or above qualifications in areas such as:
  Social Work,Youth Work,Education/Learning Support,Health and Social Care, Coaching/Mentoring or Equivalent and a Level 3 or DSP safeguarding qualification

• Handling safeguarding concerns, risk assessments, and interventions for children and vulnerable adults

• Advising staff on safeguarding procedures and promoting best practice across an organisation.

• Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance, including (KCSIE) and the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, to ensure…
