Aboutthe role
We are home to many former teachers, examiners and education professionals who have built successful careers in assessment, working on qualifications ranging from Cambridge IGCSE and O Level to Cambridge International A Level.
In this valued role, you will be one of our Physics subject specialists, providing expert input across our Physics and General Sciences qualifications. You will play a key role in ensuring the quality, validity and reliability of assessments taken by learners around the world.
Working at the heart of the assessment process, you will help shape qualifications taken by hundreds of thousands of learners globally. Drawing on your subject expertise, you will contribute to assessment design, standards setting, syllabus development and examiner management, helping to maintain the high standards and international reputation of Cambridge qualifications.
As part of this role, you will:
- oversee the development and production of question papers for our international qualifications, ensuring they are accurate, valid and free from error.
- ensure assessment materials are comparable across series and over time, while maintaining fairness and accessibility for candidates from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.
- contribute to standards-setting activities, including the determination of grade thresholds, to ensure the consistent application of assessment standards.
- work closely with a range of subject experts and stakeholders, including Setters, Revisers, Vetters and Principal Examiners, to maintain the quality and integrity of assessments.
- recruit, manage and support teams of examiners, while contributing to examiner development and succession planning.
- collaborate with ministry partners and other stakeholders around the world to develop, review and revise syllabuses and qualifications.
- provide specialist subject expertise to support the ongoing development, quality and validity of our assessments.
As part of the University of Cambridge, we work to incredibly high standards. Every question paper must assess what we say it assesses, and the grade thresholds that we set must provide a reliable indication for employers and universities around the world of candidates' attainment in the subject.
This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. AboutYou
As one of our Physics specialists, you will hold a degree in Physics or a closely related discipline with substantial Physics content. You will bring strong subject expertise in Physics, together with experience in education and/or assessment. This could include teaching, examining, assessment development, curriculum design or other relevant educational roles.
You will have the confidence to review and challenge assessment materials, support standards-setting activities and work with a range of subject experts to ensure the quality and validity of our qualifications.
