Aspire People are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative Teachers to join a specialist school in Cardiff supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

The school supports pupils aged 3-19 with autism and/or profound and complex needs, providing a highly personalised, pupil-centred learning environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ALN Teacher, Special Educational Needs Teacher or a mainstream teacher looking to develop their career within specialist education.

Previous ALN or special school experience is highly beneficial but not essential.

The school offers a strong induction, mentoring and professional development programme, making this an excellent opportunity for teachers who are passionate about developing their practice.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, pupil-centred learning
  • Supporting pupils with autism, ALN and complex needs
  • Adapting teaching and learning to individual needs and abilities
  • Developing pupils' communication, independence and life skills
  • Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Working closely with Teaching Assistants and wider support teams
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and their families
  • Monitoring progress and contributing to individual learning plans
  • Using appropriate strategies to support communication, engagement and behaviour
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the specialist school setting
We're Looking For
  • QTS or relevant teaching qualification
  • Passion for working with pupils with ALN and additional needs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, creative and adaptable approach to teaching
  • Commitment to pupil-centred learning
  • Experience working with autism, complex needs or within a specialist setting is desirable
  • Mainstream teaching experience will also be considered
  • EWC registration or willingness to obtain
  • Enhanced DBS for Children on the DBS Update Service
