We're working with a well-established renewable energy contractor delivering decarbonisation projects across the UK. Their portfolio includes commercial and industrial Solar PV installations, alongside wider clean energy solutions, and they're looking for a Mechanical Installation Manager to lead their growing installation team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with a strong project pipeline where you'll have genuine influence over installation standards, team development and operational performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Mechanical, you'll oversee the mechanical delivery of commercial Solar PV installations from mobilisation through to completion. You'll manage a team of Mechanical Installation Engineers and Lead Engineers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with Design, Planning and Project Management teams, you'll play a key role in maintaining programme, resolving technical challenges and driving continuous improvement across the installation function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage mechanical installation teams across multiple Solar PV projects.
  • Ensure all mechanical installations are completed safely, on time and to specification.
  • Carry out quality inspections and provide technical guidance throughout project delivery.
  • Develop, mentor and support Mechanical Installation Engineers and Lead Engineers.
  • Coordinate closely with Design, Planning and Project Management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Monitor site progress, identify risks and implement solutions to keep projects on schedule.
  • Oversee material deliveries, ensuring quality and accuracy while resolving supplier issues where required.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, company procedures and industry standards.
  • Produce regular progress updates and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Promote best practice, continuous improvement and high installation standards across all projects.
About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with proven leadership experience within the commercial Solar PV sector.

You'll ideally have:
  • 5+ years' experience delivering mechanical installations on commercial or utility-scale Solar PV projects.
  • Previous experience leading installation teams or site supervisors.
  • Strong knowledge of Solar PV mounting systems, containment and associated mechanical installation practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and ensure installations are delivered to design.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions on site.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A proactive leadership style with a passion for developing teams.
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification, Renewable Energy degree or relevant NVQ.
  • SMSTS, NEBOSH or other recognised Health & Safety qualification.
  • Knowledge of current industry standards, regulations and best practice.
What's on Offer
  • Join a growing renewable energy business with a strong pipeline of projects.
  • Opportunity to shape installation standards and influence operational improvements.
  • Career progression into senior operational leadership.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Work on impactful commercial renewable energy projects supporting the UK's transition to Net Zero.
