Are you ready to leave your mark on a historic transformation? A large steel producer is seeking an ambitious and established Quantity Surveyor to join a new project. This isn't just another construction job; it is a monumental effort to modernise and revitalise the UK steelmaking sector. Location: Port Talbot (4 days site-based, 1 day remote)
Salary/Rate: £25.00 - £31.60 per hour (Up to £60,000)
Duration: Fixed term until March 2028
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 08:30-16:45 Mon-Thu and 08:30-15:45 Fri
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will lead the commercial and contractual management of large-scale construction and civil engineering works. Your day-to-day will involve:
- Budgeting:
Preparing and reporting on project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans. - Contract Management:
Negotiating variations and change orders under NEC and FIDIC frameworks. - Procurement:
Overseeing subcontracting from tender through to final accounts. - Leadership:
Mentoring junior staff and fostering a high-performing commercial culture. - Collaboration:
Liaising with engineers and planners to ensure total project alignment.
- Qualifications: A degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management and Chartered status (RICS/CIOB).
- Experience: Substantial experience in heavy industry, power, or major civil engineering projects.
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of NEC 3/4, FIDIC, and/or JCT contracts.
- Logistics: A valid driving licence and your own vehicle, plus full Right to Work in the UK.
- Attributes: Strong negotiation skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to manage complex stakeholders.
