Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading integrated placemaking consultancy in their search for a Senior Town Planner to join their growing Planning Team based in Cardiff.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to take on a key role within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, working with a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients including education providers, healthcare organisations, developers, and house builders.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will take the lead on a broad range of projects across the planning process, including:

Residential developments

Commercial schemes

Education and healthcare projects

Mixed-use regeneration

Energy and infrastructure developments

Industrial projects

You will work closely with in-house urban design and landscape teams to deliver planning strategies that not only meet policy requirements but also contribute to the creation of sustainable, high-quality places.

Key Responsibilities

Leading the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals

Managing planning projects from inception through to determination

Undertaking site appraisals and development feasibility studies

Preparing high-quality planning statements and reports

Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, stakeholders, and consultants

Attending client meetings and site visits

Supporting and mentoring junior members of the planning team

Contributing to planning strategy and project delivery

Candidate Requirements

Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline

MRTPI Chartered or working towards Chartership

Strong understanding of the UK planning system

Demonstrable experience managing planning applications

Excellent project management and report writing skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Proactive approach within a client-focused consultancy environment
