Senior Structural Engineer

Overview

Are you a Senior Structural Engineer looking for your next challenge? Due to our expanding workload, we are looking for an ambitious engineer to join our award‑winning Building Structures Team in Cardiff. The role will involve delivering our diverse project portfolio within the Buildings & Places practice across the UK, with the opportunity to work on a variety of local projects in the South‑West and Wales area.

You will be responsible for managing and delivering projects and designs for our varied client base. We place innovation, sustainability, ethics and safety at the basis of all our work.

• Deliver multiple projects or parts of larger projects to completion, within budget and to programme.
• Ensure the provision of efficient, high‑quality structural engineering design.
• Use your technical skills and knowledge on a wide range of building structures, and apply them to various circumstances.
• Be aware of and work in compliance with BIM standards, Digital Plan of Work and the project BIM Execution plan.
• Act as the first point of contact for clients, contractors, design team and third parties.
• Offer support and guidance to more junior members of the team, mentoring them where possible.
• Effectively manage own time, especially if allocated to more than one project.
• Effectively manage a small project team, reporting to the team leader.
• Build client relationships and help identify business opportunities.

• Working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer, M/ISECT or MICE.
• Experience in successfully leading the structural engineering delivery of small/medium projects, including managing small focused project teams to deliver to agreed deadlines and budgets.
• Experience in the design of common structural materials and a good understanding of current design standards and working practices.
• Experience in the use of structural analysis design software such as Tekla Structural Designer and/or Robot Structural Analysis (desirable).
• Proven experience on developing projects from concept to construction stage.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to support client relationships.
• Ability to make decisions, act on initiative and operate proactively.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If necessary, this will be discussed with you  vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for 5 years or longer.
