Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Engineer to support our regional Development Team based in Cardiff, focusing on civil engineering for development infrastructure across Wales and the UK with international opportunities.
As a Senior Engineer you will work within a team to lead and produce designs and drawings for construction projects and deliver technical reports for masterplaning and support planning applications. You can expect to be active on several projects and client accounts at any given time and report to a senior member of the Development Team.
Responsibilities- Day‑to‑day project management in the delivery of concept studies and strategies with hands‑on design, leading to planning applications or construction drawing issue.
- Taking financial responsibility for projects, ensuring delivery to budget, programme and technical standards.
- Working on varied multi‑disciplinary projects and client accounts, liaising with clients at a local and national level.
- Direct line management, including mentoring and managing early‑career professionals to ensure technical excellence.
- Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals and involvement in business development activities.
- Helping maintain the culture and positive working environment in the team.

- Preferably a Civil Engineering degree and be Chartered or approaching Chartered status with experience in highway and highway drainage design.
- Strong post‑graduate experience in a civil engineering working environment.
- The ability to produce master‑plans, site appraisals, write reports to support planning applications, design calculations and construction drawings.
- A solid engineering foundation and an understanding of highway design and highway drainage principles.
- Experience using Civils 3D or PDS (or similar software packages) and applying Highways England/DMRB and Local Authority design guidance.
- Experience designing drainage using Info Drainage and knowledge of Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, DMRB and Local Authority Design Guides, and preparation of drawings for contract documents and technical agreements.
- The ability to work effectively with colleagues, including more senior and junior staff, in producing designs, drawings and reports.
