The Graduate Electrical Project Engineer will play a key role on‑site in supporting the delivery of complex Data Centre, Renewables and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The role involves close coordination with design, procurement, commissioning, and construction teams. The successful candidate will oversee the quality and safety of installations, support commissioning efforts, and manage technical interfaces with subcontractors and vendors.
This site‑based role requires frequent travel or relocation depending on project needs and is ideal for ambitious engineers seeking to accelerate their career in a high‑performance EPC environment.
- Assist with the design and specification of HV electrical systems (11kV‑400kV), including substations, switch gear, and cable systems.
- Collaborate with the design/engineering/electrical project engineer team & project manager to deliver the project objectives, scope, and electrical requirements ahead of client expectations, maintaining H&MV’s excellent reputation in delivering top‑class HV projects.
- Contribute to technical documentation, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Attend site visits to support surveys, installations, testing, and commissioning activities. Liaise with clients, contractors, and equipment suppliers to ensure project requirements are met.
- Ensure compliance with UK legislation, DNO/TSO standards, and health & safety regulations.
- Gain exposure to protection & control schemes, earthing design, and grid compliance requirements.
- Support the preparation of reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
- Take construction issue designs through the construction phase and feed back lessons learned to the design team weekly.
- Manage material approval requests and ensure construction is as per the approved materials.
- Assist the electrical project engineer in ensuring the project ITPs are set up and approved prior to construction kick‑off, and that the sub‑contractors and site team complete them as outlined.
- Assist the electrical project engineer in developing and maintaining test packs, reviewing documentation to ensure completion and accuracy.
- Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Interest in gaining exposure to HV/MV systems or EPC project environments.
- Willingness to travel or relocate for project needs.
- Understanding of the full project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solutions‑focused approach to problem‑solving.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
- Commitment to continuous learning, development, and contributing to a positive team culture rooted in safety and technical excellence.
