We are seeking high‑calibre, ambitious, and motivated individuals to join our Structural Engineering team in either Bristol or Cardiff. As a Graduate Structural Engineer at Burroughs, you will work closely with experienced Chartered Engineers on a diverse range of projects, including new‑build structures, refurbishment and alteration projects, structural assessments, historic structures, and infrastructure projects.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to structural analysis and design, inspections, site visits, technical reports and project delivery from an early stage in your career. You will gain exposure to client meetings, design reviews and site inspections while developing technical breadth, practical engineering judgement and professional confidence.

As your experience grows, you will take on increasing responsibility while receiving structured support towards Chartered Engineer status through mentoring, internal and external training, and hands‑on project experience. We invest heavily in the technical and professional development of our staff and provide opportunities to work on technically challenging projects that will accelerate your growth as an engineer. We are looking for graduates who are curious, motivated, and eager to develop into well‑rounded structural engineers capable of taking on increasing responsibility throughout their careers.

Skills

/ Qualifications Required
  • MEng degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline;
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills;
  • A genuine interest in structural engineering and the built environment;
  • A willingness to learn, take responsibility, and contribute within a collaborative team environment;
  • Full UK driving licence advantageous;
  • Ability to work using own initiative and demonstrate a methodical approach;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
