We are looking to hire an Electronics Engineer – Design and Verification within Electronics Group to enable Quantum technologies. What You’ll Accomplish:

  • Lead the testing of integrated electronic circuits and/or subsystems as a primary duty.
  • Design, build and test electronics solution using your skills of analogue, and digital circuit design together with industry standard CAD packages and test equipment.
  • Write the documentation of the electronics circuits and verification tests.
  • Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.
  • Maintain the multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, physicists, working towards a common goal.
  • Play a key role in building test systems for quantum computers.
  • Maintain UQs’ position of using state of the art electronics solutions.
  • Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues.
  • Engage with project planning activities, risk management, and scheduling requirements.
  • Help with fast turn‑around proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the firmware and software used to control quantum computers.
Requirements

The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidate.

  • Electronics and/or Verification experience.
  • Hands‑on experience in working on complex systems from concept through delivery.
  • PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debug skills using electronics test equipment.
  • Must-have

    Skills:

    • Minimum 10 years of practical/hands‑on experience in electronics design.
    • Experience developing and executing test plans and approaches on complex systems.
    • Analogue design experience.
    • PCB design experience.
    • Experience with low noise design approaches and techniques.
    • Experience of working with suppliers and contractors.
    • Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a team player.
    • At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.

    Nice-to-have

    Skills:

    • A background in one of the following:
      System engineering, Research, Metrology, or instrumentation.
    • Understanding of signal integrity, high‑speed digital, and EMC.
    • Experience with C and/or scripting languages e.g., Python and MATLAB.
    • Experience of LabVIEW.
    • Pragmatic approach to decision‑making and design choices.
    • Team and/or project management experience.
