Our Client is seeking an experienced M&E Project Engineer to lead the engineering delivery of major UK renewable energy projects. You will oversee full lifecycle engineering across HV, LV, MV, from 132kV systems, ensuring designs are buildable, compliant, and optimised for performance and cost. This is a key role supporting the UK’s transition toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full lifecycle engineering ownership from concept to energisation and handover
  • Coordination across Civil, Electrical, Protection & Control (P&C), SCADA and OEM vendors
  • Interface management with DNOs, TNOs, Grid Operators, ICP/BOP contractors and EPC partners
  • Construction support: RFIs, field changes, redlining, QA/QC, ITP alignment
  • Lead and coordinate design review meetings; ensure constructability across all design packages
  • Manage STQs, NCRs, root cause analysis and lessons learned
  • Ensure complete and accurate O&M documentation at handover
  • Develop Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and maintain progressive assurance during construction
  • Manage subcontractors, ITT packages and support procurement including attending FATs
  • Maintain clear communication with clients and provide regular progress reporting
  • Support process compliance, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Drive strong client satisfaction and risk‑managed project outcomes

  • Project Delivery: 95% adherence to project timelines and budgets
  • Cost Compliance:
    Maintain project costs within 5% of budget
  • Quality Compliance: 100% compliance with industry regulations and quality standards
  • Safety Standards:
    Zero safety incidents on site
  • Client Satisfaction:
    Rating 90% or higher client satisfaction
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical/electrical engineering
  • Level 3 Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with DNO/TNO/Grid Operators
  • Previous experience in the renewable energy sector
  • Familiarity with UK/European standards (BS EN/IEC, ENA, G99/100, Grid Code, CDM)
  • Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
  • Safety‑first mindset with strong understanding of electrical hazards, LOTO, PTW systems
  • Practical problem‑solving approach with strong constructability awareness
