Cardiff or Bristol
£45,000 – £52,000
A well-established SME civil engineering consultancy is looking for a Civil Engineer to join their team, based in either Cardiff or Bristol, with flexible working available. This is a great opportunity for a civil engineer with strong drainage and SuDS experience to take on a varied, technically-engaging role within a smaller, close-knit business.
Staff are genuinely valued here, and client work is seen as a source of pride and stimulation, contributing meaningfully to a changing world. While many companies talk about work-life balance, this firm has built its culture around actually delivering it.
What's on offer:
£45,000–£52,000 depending on experience — market-leading salaries
Agile, flexible working designed around staff's personal lives
24 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays), increasing with length of service
Life insurance, life assurance, and a healthcare cash plan
Contributory pension scheme (5% employee / 7% employer)
Professional institution membership fees paid, with a clear pathway to Chartership
Formal external training plus regular in-house and external CPD sessions
Social and wellbeing benefits, including sports and charity initiatives
What they're looking for:
Proficiency in 3D design and modelling software such as Micro Drainage, Info Drainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Autodesk ICM
Experience with water authority statutory approval processes (S104, S106, etc.)
Experience with SuDS Approval Body approval
Awareness of National Planning Policy and infrastructure design requirements relating to flood risk management
Ability to manage a team with varying experience levels, providing technical support and resource planning
Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritising tasks to ensure effective client delivery
Ability to build and maintain relationships with statutory bodies such as Natural Resources Wales and the Environment Agency
Self-motivated with a methodical approach, and strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
This is a great opportunity for a civil engineer looking for genuine flexibility, meaningful drainage/SuDS work, and a benefits package that reflects real investment in its people
