Description
This role supports the coordination and delivery of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) support across all Bute Energy Ltd (BEL) activities, working closely with project teams as they engage with contractors, consultants, partners and other external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities- Provide competent Environment, Health and Safety (HSE) support across all Bute Energy Ltd (BEL) activities, covering both development and delivery activities.
- Provide HSE advice and support to BEL project teams, supporting safe and compliant progress from early concept through to construction and handover.
- Leading project HSE reviews (Including HazIDs, HazCONs, HazOPs, SIMOPs) to inform key milestones (checkpoints and gate) reviews and approvals.
- Support BEL in fulfilling its client duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM), working effectively with appointed Principal Designers and Principal Contractors, including oversight of Principles Designers’ design risk assessments and design logs.
- Support client-side HSE monitoring and assurance activities during construction.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the BEL HSE Management System, aligned with Windward Energy Group (WEL Group) requirements.
- Support the vetting, pre qualification and selection of contractors and consultants, including HSE input into tender and procurement processes.
- Undertake site visits, reviews and audits to provide assurance that HSE arrangements are being applied effectively.
- Support incident reporting, investigation, action tracking and performance monitoring.
- Assist with the administration and coordination of BEL HSE Committee meetings, including preparation of reports, actions and follow-up activities.
- Work collaboratively with WEL Group HSE colleagues to ensure consistency, alignment and shared learning.
- Promote a positive, practical HSE culture and support the development of HSE awareness and capability across BEL.
- Experience of supporting EHS activities within construction, energy, infrastructure or similar environments.
- Sound working knowledge of UK H&S legislation, including CDM Regulations and the roles of Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.
- Ability to provide clear, proportionate and practical EHS advice to non specialists.
- Willingness to be visible on site as well as effective in developing systems and processes.
- Able to organise and prioritise workload effectively across multiple projects and activities.
- Competent in Microsoft packages e.g. Word, Excel
- NEBOSH Certificate with a willingness to work towards Diploma level qualification.
- Demonstrable construction EHS experience, ideally within energy, infrastructure or similar project based environments.
- Experience supporting projects through both development and delivery activities (desirable).
- Experience of contractor vetting, tender evaluation and procurement support (desirable).
- Familiarity with EHS management systems and assurance frameworks (desirable).
- Willingness to develop professional competence and take on increased responsibility over time, supported through mentoring, training and practical experience across development and construction projects.
- Openness to taking on increased responsibility over time, supported by mentoring, development and exposure to Group level governance.
