Occupational Health & Safety, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Location: Midlands & North West (Regional coverage)
Package: Negotiable Salary + Company Car / Car Allowance + Discretionary Annual Bonus (dependent on company results) + 35 Days Holiday
Role PurposeThe Senior SHE Advisor will provide expert safety, health, and environmental guidance across framework projects in the Midlands and North West. The focus of the role is site-based compliance, active challenge of live safety arrangements (RAMS, Permits, Briefings), data-driven performance monitoring, and embedding continuous improvement across civil engineering and water infrastructure operations.
Key AccountabilitiesOn-Site Compliance & Challenge
- Critically review RAMS, site briefings, and Permit-to-Work systems to ensure suitability and on-the-ground compliance.
- Provide visible site engagement, coaching, and constructive challenge to operational teams.
Auditing & Systems
- Conduct routine SHE audits and inspections across live sites.
- Maintain alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
Investigations & Reporting
- Lead/support root-cause investigations for incidents and near-misses.
- Use Microsoft Power BI and digital tools to analyse trends and report KPIs to the leadership team.
Communication & Culture
- Produce Safety Bulletins, Alerts, and Technical Advisories.
- Coach and mentor site personnel and junior SHEQ team members to foster a positive safety culture.
Risk & Subcontractor Management
- Manage occupational health risks (COSHH, noise, HAVS, manual handling).
- Assess and monitor subcontractor competence and site delivery.
- Extensive H&S experience in civil engineering, groundworks, or water infrastructure environments.
- Hands-on experience challenging RAMS, permit management, and site briefings effectively.
- Practical understanding of ISO management systems and root-cause analysis methodologies.
- High level of IT literacy (MS Office), with practical exposure to business intelligence tools (Power BI preferred).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Mandatory: Full UK Driving Licence, NEBOSH Construction Certificate and/or Higher Qualification, IOSH Membership (Graduate/Certified status or above), relevant CSCS Card.
- Hours: 45 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 17:30).
- Remuneration: Negotiable base salary, Company Car (EV available) or allowance, Discretionary Annual Bonus (dependent on company results).
