The role
Do you have a passion for data and understanding risk? We are looking for a dedicated person to join the Integrated Water Planning Team to lead on chemicals and emerging threats to the water environment. You will be the lead for technical assessments, directing existing work programmes such as monitoring. You will also lead on expanding our data and knowledge about future threats by working with others in NRW such as the monitoring teams and externally such as Welsh Government and academia so that we build on what we know now and are ready for the future risks.
This role is responsible for ensuring NRW is able to meet the requirements of the Environmental Quality and Standards Directive (EQSD) and will have opportunities for Wales, UK and wider work.
Natural Resources Wales is the environmental regulator with a duty to further the sustainable management of natural resources. Based in the Strategy, Policy and Evidence Directorate; this post is part of the Integrated Water Planning Team. The Team covers Water Framework Directive Regulations, River Basin Management Planning, management of Welsh Government's Nature and Climate Emergencies fund for water quality improvements and the National Environment Programme directing water company business planning and influencing Ofwat's Price Reviews.
The post is part of the WFDR focus and critical to ensure we are achieving legislative requirements including EQSD.
