Our work includes delivering transport planning projects that help shape how people and goods move through towns, cities and regions. Transport planners assess current and future travel demand, advise on transport strategies, prepare evidence for development planning applications, design active travel and sustainable mobility solutions, and support masterplans that create better outcomes for people and places. Projects can range from strategic transport studies, business cases and policy advice through to major development proposals, station and interchange planning, public transport schemes, walking and cycling improvements, traffic and movement analysis, and transport inputs to regeneration and infrastructure programmes.

You will work with a wide range of clients, including local authorities, combined authorities, government bodies, developers, landowners, transport operators and infrastructure organisations. You will also collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Arup, bringing together expertise from planning, design, engineering and sustainability to deliver integrated solutions for our clients.

• Deliver transport planning analysis and advice.
• Assess existing and future movement patterns, travel demand, accessibility, and transport impacts to inform project decisions. Apply transport data, spatial analysis, dashboards, modelling outputs and emerging data science techniques
• Support transport strategies, policies, and business cases.
• Contribute evidence, analysis, and written inputs for transport strategies, policy work, investment cases, and funding submissions.
• Prepare transport inputs for development and infrastructure projects.
• Support planning applications, masterplans, regeneration schemes, and infrastructure programmes through transport assessments, movement strategies, and technical reporting.
• Develop sustainable and inclusive transport solutions.
• Help design and appraise walking, cycling, public transport, interchange, and mobility improvements that support better outcomes for people and places.
• Work with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate with public and private sector clients, transport operators, and Arup colleagues across planning, engineering, design, and sustainability disciplines.

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant discipline. Transport planners come from a wide variety of study backgrounds, including geography, civil engineering, mathematics, planning, data science and environmental sciences.
