Based in the UK Finance team in Cardiff and reporting to a Senior Accountant, this is a crucial role in ensuring our month end processes are completed accurately and efficiently as well as supporting with other financial reporting.
You’ll play a key role in making sure our financial reporting is accurate, reliable, and delivered on time. You’ll work across the business, helping teams understand the numbers and improving how we do things.

Role Responsibilities- Developing a good understanding of the activities of the business and a strong working relationship with managers across the business, in order to be able to provide financial, numerical and procedural assistance to a variety of departments
- Timely completion of Month End activities and developing a thorough understanding of key accounting processes within the UK insurance business
- Supporting the production of reporting issued to the Group’s insurance companies, co‑insurers and re‑insurers
- Ownership and management of key balance sheet reconciliations to ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation
- Developing existing control and accounting processes and drive improvements with a view to reducing the time it takes to complete month‑end activities
- Supporting with the improvement of accounting processes, controls and reporting
- Assisting with the preparation of year‑end accounts and statutory accounts
- Supporting the internal and external audit process
- Providing general support and completing ad‑hoc tasks as required by Finance managers
- Qualified Accountant with experience in Financial Accounting or Management Accounting (ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
- Strong academic background with strong numeracy and analytical skills
- Experience of accounting / month end processes and a good understanding of internal financial controls
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders
- Desire to probe further into data, pro‑active in all aspects of the role
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and large data sets manipulation skills.
- Insurance, Payroll and Share schemes accounting understanding
- Microsoft Dynamics experience desirable
- Experience working in the Financial Services sector
